Hammer Head Felt

Hammer Head Felt

A hammer head felt is a wood core covered with felt, which is hurled by pressing of the key against the string. The degree of hardness of felt affects considerably the character of the sound (older, hardened felt produces shrill tones; this is eliminated by intonation). The production of hammer head felt is therefore a very complex and precise production process.
